Turn signals are a courtesy, not a fiat for bad driving. If you'd like to enter a different lane, put your signal on and wait for a driver to give you space or traffic to open up.

People who think their turn signal automatically gives them right-of-way are just one more reason God gave us working horns in our vehicles. It signals their stupidity.
